Conjugate elements
Definition
Let be a group and let . The element is conjugate to when there is with . The element is called the conjugate of by .
Remarks
Conjugacy is an equivalence relation on ; its classes are the conjugacy classes. In an abelian group, , so each element is conjugate only to itself. Conjugate elements have the same order. In the group of invertible matrices, conjugate matrices are similar matrices.
Explanations
L1 human
Conjugating by means: first undo , then do , then do again (reading the product from right to left). The result does the same thing as , but in a place that has moved. For example, two rotations of a cube by the same angle about different axes are conjugate.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
