Cauchy's estimates
Statement
Let be an open set and let be holomorphic on . Let and be such that the closed disc is contained in . Let be a real number with for each with . Then for each integer ,
Remarks
Proof: apply the estimation lemma to the formula for the derivatives with . The circle has length , and on it. For , the estimate is . If is the Taylor series, the estimate is .
Explanations
L1 human
If a holomorphic function is small on a circle, then its derivatives at the center cannot be large. A larger circle with the same bound gives a better bound for the derivatives. This is the idea of Liouville's theorem.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
