Comparison test for improper integrals
Statement
Let be Riemann integrable on each , with for all . If converges, then converges, and If diverges, then diverges.
Remarks
The function is increasing, and it is bounded by by monotonicity. A bounded monotone function has a limit. For example, for . So converges. The same test holds for integrals that are improper at a finite endpoint.
Explanations
L1 human
If a larger function has finite area, a smaller nonnegative function also has finite area. This lets us prove convergence without computing the integral.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
