Rooted tree

Definition

A rooted tree is a pair (T,r)(T, r) of a tree TT and a vertex rr of TT, the root.

Let v≠rv \neq r be a vertex, and let uu be the neighbour of vv on the unique path from vv to rr. Then uu is the parent of vv, and vv is a child of uu. The depth of vv is the distance from rr to vv.

Remarks

The root has no parent, and every other vertex has exactly one parent. A vertex with no child is a leaf of the rooted tree. With this convention the root can be a leaf only when the tree has one vertex. An ordered rooted tree also fixes an order of the children of each vertex. A binary tree is a related recursive structure.

Explanations

L1 human

A rooted tree is a tree in which one vertex is chosen as the top. Then each edge has a direction: from a parent toward its child, away from the root.

What this node needs for W1
  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.

What this needs

To read this node, read these 10 nodes in this order. The foundations come first, and the list ends with this node.

Each node uses the nodes above it. The colour of the bar on a box shows the evidence level, and the box also gives it as text. The list below has the same nodes.
