Projection
Definition
Let be a field and let be a vector space over . A projection on is an endomorphism with .
Remarks
If is a projection, then , and acts as the identity on . Conversely, for each direct sum , the map is a projection with image and kernel . If is a projection, then is the projection with image and kernel . In an inner product space, an orthogonal projection is a projection whose kernel is orthogonal to its image.
Explanations
L1 human
A projection maps space onto a subspace and leaves the vectors of that subspace where they are. Projecting a second time changes nothing. The shadow of an object on the floor, in light from a fixed direction, is a picture of a projection.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
