Orthogonal family for a bilinear form
Definition
Let be a field, let be a vector space over , and let be a bilinear form on . A family of vectors of is orthogonal for when
Remarks
For an inner product, this is the usual notion of an orthogonal family. For a general , the relation need not be symmetric in and ; it is symmetric for symmetric and alternating forms. In a basis that is orthogonal for , the matrix of is diagonal. Unlike in an inner product space, a nonzero vector can be orthogonal to itself: for , take .
Explanations

Orthogonality makes sense for every bilinear form, not only for inner products. Two vectors are orthogonal when the form gives zero. A basis of pairwise orthogonal vectors makes the matrix of the form diagonal.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
