One-sided derivative
Definition
Let be a real function defined on an interval with . The right derivative of at is the one-sided limit when it exists. The left derivative is defined in the same way, for on and .
Remarks
A function on an open interval is differentiable at if and only if both one-sided derivatives exist and are equal. Their common value is the derivative.
One-sided derivatives give a meaning to derivatives at the endpoints of a closed interval.
For at , the right derivative is and the left derivative is .
Mathlib expresses them with HasDerivWithinAt on a half line.
Explanations
L1 human
A one-sided derivative only looks at one side of the point. At a corner of a graph, the slopes from the left and from the right exist but differ.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
