Automorphism group
Definition
Let be a group. An automorphism of is a group isomorphism from to . The automorphism group is the set of all automorphisms of , with composition of maps as the operation.
Remarks
The identity map is the identity element of , and the inverse of an automorphism is its inverse map. The automorphism group of has two elements, the identity and . For an abelian group , the map is an automorphism.
Explanations
L1 human
An automorphism is a way to rename the elements of a group so that all products stay correct. The set of all such renamings is again a group, because you can compose and undo renamings. For the integers, the only renamings are "do nothing" and "change all signs".
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
