Median
Definition
Let be a real random variable on a probability space . A median of is a real number with
Remarks
Each real random variable has a median, and the medians form a closed bounded interval. For example, is a median, where is the quantile function. The median can be different from the mean. For the exponential distribution with rate , the median is and the mean is . For a fair coin coded as and , each is a median. For a sorted data set with odd, the median is . For even, one usually takes the mean of the two middle values.
Explanations

The median is the middle value: half of the chance lies on each side of it. The median of the incomes in a country is often more useful than the mean. A few very large incomes do not move the median much.

- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
