statement proposition
Intersection of subspaces
Statement
Let be a field, let be a vector space over , and let and be linear subspaces of . Then is a linear subspace of . It is the largest subspace of that is contained in both and . More generally, the intersection of each nonempty family of subspaces of is a subspace of .
Remarks
The union is a subspace only when or . The smallest subspace that contains is the sum . In , two different planes through the origin meet in a line through the origin.
Explanations
L1 human
A vector that lies in two subspaces stays in both of them when we add or scale. So the common part of two subspaces is again a subspace. Two planes through the origin in space cross in a line, which is a subspace.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
