Collinear points
Definition
Let be a field and let be an affine space over a vector space over . A set of points of is collinear if the linear span of the vectors for has dimension at most 1. Equivalently, is collinear if has at most one point or a line of contains .
Remarks
The empty set and each set with one point are collinear. Each set of two points is collinear.
A set with at least two points is collinear if and only if its affine span is a line.
In , the points , and are collinear if and only if .
Mathlib's Collinear uses the first form of the definition.
Explanations

Points are collinear if you can draw one straight line through all of them. The points , and are collinear: they all lie on . The point is not on this line, so , and are not collinear.
