Equicontinuity
Definition
Let and be metric spaces and let be a set of functions from to . The family is equicontinuous at a point when the property that follows holds. For each real there is a real such that for all and all with . The family is equicontinuous when it is equicontinuous at each point of .
Remarks
The number depends on and , but not on . Each finite set of continuous functions is equicontinuous. The family of all functions that are Lipschitz with constant is equicontinuous: take . The family on is not equicontinuous at .
Explanations
L1 human
Each continuous function has its own for each . An equicontinuous family has one that works for all functions in the family. The functions become steeper and steeper near , so no common exists there.
What this node needs for W2
- edge instance_of in: one example (0 of 1)
- edge not_instance_of in: one non-example that fails one clause (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
What depends on this
1 node uses this node, directly or through other nodes.
