Consistent estimator
Definition
For each , let be an estimator of a real parameter that uses the first observations of a sample. The sequence is consistent if, for each , in probability when is the true parameter:
Remarks
If the convergence is almost sure, the sequence is strongly consistent. By the weak law of large numbers, the sample mean of an i.i.d. sample is a consistent estimator of the mean. If the mean squared error of tends to , then is consistent. This follows from Markov's inequality. Consistent estimators can be biased, and unbiased estimators can fail to be consistent. For example, the estimator of the mean uses only one observation: it is unbiased but not consistent, unless is almost surely constant.

A consistent estimator gets closer and closer to the truth when you collect more and more data. This is a minimal requirement for a reasonable estimator.
What this node needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a node is. They do not measure its truth.
